Our Foundation
About Us
Philadelphia Health Partnership is a private, independent foundation. Our mission is to advocate for and resource equitable, quality care and services that improve the health and well-being of people in Philadelphia. We envision a Philadelphia in which everyone, particularly those who have faced barriers to opportunity, achieves optimal health and well-being.
Our History
The foundation was created in 1997 as part of the merger between Pennsylvania Hospital and the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. Originally known as “First Hospital Foundation,” we became “Philadelphia Health Partnership: Foundation for Healthy Communities” in 2018. Our current name and logo reflect our commitment to Philadelphia County, our focus on health, and our philosophy towards collaboration and engagement. In 2023, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary as a health equity champion.
